About Me:

Welcome to the professional portfolio of New York City-based writer, editor and creative person, Ali Fenwick. I am a newspaper reporter turned magazine journalist turned all-around Swiss Army knife of a wordsmith with bylines in major publications like Sports Illustrated, Fortune, and Runner’s World, and years of experience in social media strategy and management, copywriting, fact-checking, research, editing, and line producing. I have a 15+ years of storytelling experience and I love reporting profiles and process stories. (Remember the classic Sesame Street segment where they visit a crayon factory to show how the colored wax is poured, molded and packed into boxes before being sent off , or the Mister Rogers episode where he visits the factory that manufactures his signature tennis shoes? Shiver. The-way-things-work, behind-the-scenes stuff like that).

I strongly believe that there is nothing that can’t be accomplished with a YouTube instructional video and a drill, that the telephone part of our cell phones is the best app there is, and that we should all look up and talk to more strangers every day. I love pop culture, sports, running, baking popovers, eating pie, diner culture, shucking my own oysters, reading Nancy Drew mystery stories, putting my dog in ridiculous situations and photographing him, and designing elaborate Halloween costumes. I also have a special talent for crafting the “About Me” sections for other folks’ websites. Not making any claims about this one.

I bring curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm, and a tireless telephone manner to any project, large or small, and I enjoy working with smart, kind, funny, and generous people. If you’re one of those people, give me a shout.
